Thoughts on a Decade of Blogging

This June I’m coming up on ten years of writing this blog. I can’t think of many things I’ve done for an entire decade. I’ve never lived in the same house for ten years, my average is four. The longest relationship I’ve been in is six years. I’ve only been a parent for three years. Read more…

The End of Life in Chicago

A lot of people have been asking what's going to happen to Life in Chicago when I move to LA in a few weeks. Well, I'm happy to report that I'm going to be launching a brand new website at the end of the month. I've been working with a designer for the last couple Read more…

On Love and the Internet

When I moved to Chicago three and a half years ago, the only person I knew was Greg, and we'd only known each other for a few months. I was well aware that moving to a big city where the only person I knew was a guy I was involved with, was a recipe for Read more…

Sunday

For most of the day I've been either playing with Veronica or reading Jonathan Franzen's Freedom. I have not been thinking about blogging. At all. Posts like this make NaBloPoMo seem like a bad idea.

Here We Go

In an impulsive decision yesterday, I signed up for NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month), which means I'll be posting every day for the rest of the month. Yikes. I don't know who is going to suffer more from this — you or me — probably you. (I already missed one day, but I promise to Read more…

On This Whole Blogging Thing

I've had an incredible couple of days. It feels like I just got home from an amazing trip. And, in a lot of ways, I kind of just did. I spent the better part of Monday and Tuesday this week running around Chicago with three other bloggers, Courtney Kendrick (who I'm TOTALLY smitten with), Jamie Read more…

On Grieving and the Internet

I was interviewed this week for an article called The Way We Grieve, about the various coping methods that have arisen in today's modern age. It's a subject I'm always interested in discussing, particularly in how it pertains to the internet. Although it didn't appear in the article, the interviewer and I talked at length Read more…

Where I’ve Been

I've been a bad blogger lately. There are several reasons behind this, but even they're good ones I still feel like I've got some work to do, some repairs to make, maybe even some apologies to write. This past June marked seven years since I've been blogging. That's a long time! When I first started Read more…

Lately

I feel like I owe my blog an apology. I have been completely checked out lately. It's taken all I can muster to get posts out regularly these past few weeks. Even right now, writing this entry was the last thing on a to-do list that included some pretty annoying stuff. But here I am. Read more…

Tag Team Weekend

It was a nice weekend. Dinners with friends, birthday parties, errands, house cleaning, the gym, life maintenance stuff. It's always nice to get stuff done, right? Cross stuff off that perpetual list. We spend a lot of our weekends this way now. I terribly miss the scope of our weekends pre-baby though. I miss sleeping Read more…
