The Sunday Rumpus Interview…Featuring Me!

I’m wildly honored to have been featured as the Sunday Interview on the highly esteemed literary website The Rumpus today. Even more flattering than the existence of the interview itself are the incredibly thoughtful questions asked by author Gina Frangello. My jaw literally dropped when I opened the email with these questions. It was one of the most validating moments I’ve had since writing my book. Gina’s questions made me feel that she deeply thought about my book and was affected by it. It took me three days to answer them because I was working so hard to provide answers as thoughtful as her questions.

Anyway, enjoy!

  1. Your interview was outstanding, and almost as awesome as that banner ad right above it advertising a mug that says “write like a motherfucker.” Awesome. XO

  3. This interview was thoughtful, powerful, and fascinating, Claire! Could really relate to the part about being drawn by or to “damaged” people. I always think of that word in a fairly positive rather than negative term. These are people to me who have lived through experiences that while tragic are in some way life defining. They are often the most fascinating, open, honest individuals. Reminds me of why I was originally drawn to and continue to be compelled by your blog. We should have a conversation together one day about relationships with alcohol as we both seem to have had similar perspectives and conclusions.
